According to information available on the ANEPC website, the fire, which started on Sunday in Aljezur and spread to the municipality of Lagos, was being fought by 649 personnel, supported by 220 vehicles and eight aircraft.
A source from the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command had previously told Lusa that the firefighting in the municipality of Lagos was progressing favourably, with no "threats to any population cluster."
The fire remained active in the municipality of Lagos, in the Faro district, with firefighters deploying resources to try to take advantage of improved weather conditions.
In a report issued at 11:10 PM on Monday, a Civil Protection source said the fire had already caused 11 minor injuries: eight firefighters and three civilians.
In the previous report, at the Civil Defense briefing held that morning, nine minor injuries were reported.
The affected area is composed of scrubland, but there are also areas of pine forest, eucalyptus, and cork oak.
The fire alert was issued at 3:20 PM on Sunday in the town of Bordeira, in the municipality of Aljezur, Faro district.
