According to the resolution approved on October 28, the executive branch must create “the conditions for the execution of the project for the preservation and safeguarding of the Lagos walls, classified as a national monument”.
Parliament also requests the promotion of a protocol between Estamo (Real Estate Holdings), the Lagos City Council, and the Fábrica da Igreja de São Sebastião de Lagos, enabling the municipality, with co-financing, to implement the intervention solutions identified in the study of pathologies to the Church of São Sebastião, also classified as a national monument.
It is also advised that priority be given to the urgent restoration of the Solaria pier, as well as establishing, in dialogue with the City Council, an intervention to restore and enhance the Meia Praia Fort, "to reverse" its degradation.
Regarding the Church of São Sebastião in Lagos, a resolution from the Assembly of the Republic was also published, recommending its conservation and requalification.
Parliament requests that a plan for the cultural and touristic enhancement of this church be promoted, in coordination with the competent authorities, and integrated into the cultural dynamics of the Lagos region.
A recommendation from the Legislative Assembly does not have the force of law nor does it legally oblige the Government to act in a certain way; it is a political act that exerts pressure and influence, but not legal imposition.

Lagos was a beautiful, historic and very chilled out town, not so many years ago. It is now an over commercialised, tasteless, hodge podge of a mess. The camara has completely lost the plot.
