According to the same source, Portuguese cinemas had 962,600 viewers in August 2025, losing more than a third of the 1,6 million viewers of August 2024.

When it comes to revenue, August totalled €6.24 million, a drop of 39.9% compared to August last year, when it stood at €10.4 million.

In July, Portuguese cinemas had already recorded a 35.7% drop in the number of spectators compared to the same month in 2024, with losses of over 31% in box office revenue.

At the time, in the balance sheet for the first seven months of the year, despite the decline, there were still positive figures compared to 2024, both in terms of audience numbers (2.8%) and revenue (6.7%).

American productions top the list of the most watched films in August, with Pierre Perifel's “The Bad Guys 2” attracting the largest number of admissions: 137,000 since its premiere on 31st July.

“Lilo & Stitch” tops the list of the most-watched films of the year with 660,000 viewers since its premiere on 22 May.

Walter Salles' “I’m Still Here” remains in third place on this list, with just over 384,000 viewers since it hit theatres on 16 January.

Leonel Vieira's “O Pátio da Saudade”, which premiered on 14 August, is now the most-watched Portuguese film of the year, with nearly 55,000 viewers.

Laura Carreira's “On Falling” drops to second place, with 13,000 viewers since its premiere in March.
