According to a source from the Viseu District Command of Operations and Relief, there are no villages in danger.

"The work is still ongoing," said the same source, noting that the fire, near the A25 highway, which connects Aveiro to Vilar Formoso, is not under control.

The commander of the Vouzela Volunteer Firefighters, Francisco Lima, told the Lusa news agency at 10:30am that the fire "had three active fronts, but at the moment, it has one."

"My expectation is to be able to contain the fire soon, now with more resources to fight it," he added.

Francisco Lima also said that during the night, "a firefighter was injured and treated at the emergency room in São Pedro do Sul due to smoke inhalation, but he is already fine."
