In a post on Instagram, the agency says, "Following the analysis of applications for the granting or renewal of residence permits, a new in-person document verification may be necessary."
According to AIMA, the summons will be sent exclusively by email, with the following subject: "Scheduling a new appointment for document verification." Those who receive the email must appear at the location, on the day, and at the time indicated in the message.
When attending AIMA, the citizen must bring their identification documents, especially their passport, and present the email they received upon arrival. The agency says that the process is "mandatory in-person." AIMA also warns that it will not accept any type of scanned documents.
Those who do not attend the scheduled meeting may have their residence permit application cancelled. AIMA also states that "with the domain @aima.gov.pt. Ignore and report suspicious communications to the competent authorities."
