Entering a pharmacy, choosing what you need, and leaving without anyone processing your bill is no longer science fiction. That's exactly what happens at Pharma & Go, Portugal's first pharmacy entirely managed by Artificial Intelligence, which has opened in Parque das Nações, Lisbon.

According to NiT, the project is by pharmacist Catarina Dias, who has over 20 years of experience in the field. The idea arose from the desire to serve customers seeking speed and simplicity, something not always found in traditional pharmacies.

The space operates daily, without the need for permanent staff, thanks to cameras, motion sensors, and weight controllers that can identify the products chosen by each customer.

To enter, simply bring a card or other electronic payment method close to the door sensor. After validation, the door opens and you can browse the store at your leisure. At the end, upon leaving, the system automatically registers the purchased items and debits the corresponding amount.

Catarina Dias assures that it doesn't matter if the products are in your hand, pocket, or inside a bag: Artificial Intelligence always recognises what was purchased.

With 85 square meters, Pharma & Go offers almost all the products found in a pharmacy, except for prescription medications. There are cosmetics, food supplements, baby products, medical devices, orthopaedic solutions, toothpaste, and even lubricants.

The choice of Parque das Nações was also not accidental. Catarina Dias was looking for a busy area with a young population open to technological solutions.

The goal is for the concept to be well-received and serve as an example of a disruptive business, showing that convenience and technology can go hand in hand in a traditional sector.

According to NiT, more than just opening a new store, Pharma & Go aims to demonstrate that it's possible to buy pharmacy products in a completely autonomous and secure way.

Catarina Dias emphasizes that the objective is to respond to the needs of a modern world, bringing the shopping experience closer to how technology influences each person's daily life.
