This conclusion comes from a study released by the Observatory of the Portuguese Society Behavioral Insights Unit at the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, which assessed Portuguese concerns about housing, migration flows, and health.
Compared to the same survey conducted in July 2024, the share of people who say they spend at least 41% of their income on rent or mortgage payments increased, with the largest difference being the threshold above 71% of income, where 3.9% of respondents currently position themselves, compared to only 0.7% last year.
Access to housing is a major concern for about half of Portuguese people, who expressed great concern about their continued access to adequate housing, while 65.3% view price increases with concern.
