According to a statement from the US airline, next summer, United Airlines will offer nearly 3,000 round-trip international flights per week, totaling 850 daily flights to and from more than 150 international destinations, including 41 destinations not served by any other US carrier, according to a report by Publituris.
Flights from Faro will resume on May 15, 2026, one day before the return of flights from Madeira, which will begin "three weeks before 2025" next summer, United Airlines stated in the information released.
In addition to seasonal routes to Portugal, the airline will also continue flying to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain, destinations the airline will continue to serve seasonally, while also maintaining annual flights to Dakar, Senegal; Puerto Escondido, Mexico; and Kaohsiung.
However, there is also news for next summer, with United Airlines announcing that it will open new routes to Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain, departing from the airline's hub in Newark, New York.
"United has an unparalleled international network, and we pride ourselves on connecting our customers to unique and innovative destinations that no other U.S. airline serves," said Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances at United Airlines.
With the new routes and the continuation of several of those launched last summer, United Airlines now flies to a total of 46 destinations on this side of the Atlantic, which, according to Patrick Quayle, represents "more than any other U.S. airline."
The new flights are still subject to government approval.
