According to provisional data released by the Algarve Hotels and Tourist Enterprises Association (AHETA), the markets that contributed most to the increase were the national market (up 1.9 pp), the Spanish market (up 0.6 pp), and the German market (up 0.4 pp).
The British market recorded an annual drop of 1.5 pp in the registered occupancy rate and the Swedish market of 0.4 pp.
On the other hand, the average stay of occupants was 3.7 nights, 0.5 below that seen in May 2024.
The longest average stays were in the Dutch market (Netherlands), with 6.2 nights, in Germany, with 6.0, and in Sweden, with 5.6.
According to AHETA, revenue per available room (RevPAR) increased by 9.5%, approaching 82 euros.
This performance indicator in the sector measures the revenue generated by each available room, regardless of whether it is occupied or not.
