The latest INE data shows that the Algarve saw growth in guests, overnight stays, average stays, and revenue. According to André Gomes, president of Turismo do Algarve, "the Algarve continues to be Portugal's top tourist destination, valued by both domestic and international tourists."

Regarding guests and overnight stays, in July, the Algarve saw a 2.3% increase in the number of guests and a 1.9% increase in the number of overnight stays, representing 30.8% of the total number of overnight stays (2.8 million) recorded in the country.

In the information released, Algarve Tourism indicates that overnight stays by residents increased by 2.3%, while overnight stays by non-residents grew by 1.7% compared to the same month in 2024.

The average stay in the region reached 4.25 nights, the second highest in the country, with resident tourists also standing out among the longest average stays nationwide, reaching 3.99 nights.

In July, the Algarve was also the region of the country that contributed the most to total revenue, recording a global value of 305 million euros, representing 34.2% of total revenue and 34.3% of room revenue recorded in the country.

North American market

Also noteworthy is the Algarve's performance in the North American market, with the United States registering growth of over 20% in guests (+26%) and overnight stays (+26.4%), and Canada showing equally significant increases in July (+17.2% in guests and +17.3% in overnight stays).

"These results confirm the importance of market diversification, supported by a strategy focused on attracting high-value, long-haul tourists," stated Turismo do Algarve in a statement.
