Jenny Clarke, President of the Association for the Protection of Animals Algarve (APAA), has just heard from Tricia in Silves that she is fostering this gorgeous girl. “Emelia Joy was being bullied and badly treated. As a consequence, rescued ‘EJ’ is suffering from the traumatic experience, but with long-term patience, understanding and encouragement, she will become the dog she should be.”
Why humans want to bully and mistreat a loving animal is unfortunately a question APAA, other associations and shelters constantly ask. “We are supposed to be the advanced animal in the chain as humans; we are supposed to know better.” German Griffons are known to be gentle, friendly, and loyal, and they fit in well with families and owners who are outdoors types and can give them the exercise they need. Emelia certainly ticks all of those boxes. Sterilised, vaccinated and micro-chipped, she is ready to be re-homed.
Dogs, like humans, come in all shapes and sizes; their temperaments vary with size and breeds, but with Emelia Joy, it looks like this is a good all-around girl, looking for a chance to learn how to enjoy life and wag her tail again. Just a little confidence and a lot of love. If you ticked all those boxes, can you help her regain confidence and be your friend for life? Go visit and see.
