The forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) for the general weather conditions (wind and sea) indicate strong northwest winds, up to 61 kilometres per hour, decreasing afterwards to "very fresh (between 40 and 50 kilometres per hour)".
Regarding the swell, on the north coast, the waves will be from the northwest, increasing to five to six metres, and up to three metres in the south, while visibility will be "good to moderate".
Due to these weather conditions, the regional maritime authority is issuing recommendations to the entire maritime community and the general population on precautions to take, both when preparing to go to sea and when at sea or in coastal areas.
