The districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be under a yellow warning between 06:00 and 18:00 on Friday, then changing to orange until 07:00 on Saturday, with northwest waves of 5 to 6 metres expected, potentially reaching a maximum height of 11 metres.
Due to the sea conditions, the districts of Faro, Setúbal and Beja will also be under a yellow warning between 9:00 on Friday and 7:00 on Saturday.
The north coast of Madeira Island and Porto Santo will also be under an orange warning between 2 PM on Friday and 7 AM on Saturday, with northwest waves expected to reach 5 to 6.5 metres, potentially reaching a maximum height of 12.5 metres.
The north coast of Madeira and Porto Santo will be under a yellow warning earlier, between 6 AM and 2 PM on Friday, due to strong sea conditions.
The IPMA (Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere) also issued a yellow warning for the Madeira archipelago between 3 AM on Friday and 7 AM on Saturday due to the forecast of strong winds with gusts of 80 kilometres per hour (km/h), reaching 100 km/h in mountainous regions.
The orange warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a "moderate to high risk weather situation," and the yellow warning when there is a "risk situation for certain weather-dependent activities."
