It will feature professional viola player Petra Vahle (a member of Silves Rotary Club) and her colleagues Sandrine Cantoreggi playing violin (sandrinecantoreggi.com) and Martin Henneken playing the cello.

Opus 3 String Trio

Petra Vahle has been a solo Violinist with renowned orchestras for over 25 years and is a founding member of the SEL Soloistes Europèens in Luxemburg. She has recorded Solo and chamber music for BIS and Naxos, earning the Diapason d'Or for Denisov Double Concerto for two violas and string orchestra with Nobuko Imai. Petra has taught in the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, the US, and Brazil.

In 2009, she studied Conflict and Peace at the World Peace Academy at the University of Basel, and in 2015, she furthered her peace studies at Chulalongkom University in Bangkok as a Rotary Peace Fellow. These studies propelled her to integrate music with humanitarian activities.

In 2015 she co-founded the Corridors of Peace International Organisation, which supports refugees and asylum seekers in Switzerland and Portugal, and desenfrachised women in Chad and Afghanistan.

Martin Henneken received his first cello lessons at the age of six. He studied at the Musikhochschule Lübeck in Germany with Troels Svane. He then later studied with Reinhard Latzko at the Vienna University of Music where he completed his mater's degree with distinction. Musicians such as cellist Lynn Harrell and violinist Walter Levin (LaSelle Quartet) complemented his training. He has won awards several times at the German National Young Musicians Competition. He was a student of the Live Music Now Foundation created by Yehudi Menuhin.

During his studies, he played regularly with various orchestras, such as the Lübeck Philharmonic, the Volksoper Wien Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of India, Mumbai. In 2009 and 2010, he was a member of the Wiener Staatsoper with which he had the opportunity to participate in recordings, international tours and festivals (Salzburg, Lucerne, BBC Proms). Martin is currently performing with the renowned Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon (Gulbenkian.pt).

Sandrine Cantoreggi embodies the Franco-Belgian school of violin. She studied from the age of 14 at the CNSMDParis and the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth in Brussels. Her music dialogues with other artistic expressions, whether musical, literary or visual. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has played alongside illustrious musicians and made several recordings.

A teacher at the Conservatoire de Luxemburg, she is also the founder of the Journées Musicales Mondorf, President of the Kammerata Ensemble and violinist of the Opus 3 String Trio.

Appointed Knight in the Civil and Military Order of Adolphe of Nassau by HRH Grand Duke Henri de Luxemburg. The Banque Internationale à Luxemburg is also proud to support Sandrine Cantoreggi with a magnificent 1754 violin by GB Guadagnini.

Programme

These musicians have been playing professionally since their youth in leading orchestras. This performance will take place in the wonderful atmospheric Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, Rua Cândido dos Reis (on corner of Rua Diogo Manuel) Silves. Opus 3 will be performing a dynamic and varied programme of pieces by Mozart, Bach, Jean Français, Henri Tamasi and Beethoven.

Ticket price is €25 which includes welcome drinks. The theatre doors & bar open at 19:00 and the concert starts at 20:00. The concert will be one hour with a 20 minute interval.
