According to the organisers, the protest is "For the release of Portuguese citizens held hostage by Israel, for an end to the illegal siege of Gaza, and for sanctions that stop the crimes against the Palestinian people committed by the State of Israel".
They add: "After two years of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and continued attacks on the West Bank, the State of Israel continues to attack, this time against peaceful international action. The target was the Global Sumud Flotilla, a maritime flotilla composed of dozens of small vessels that departed from various Mediterranean ports bound for Gaza, including the Portuguese delegation composed of Mariana Mortágua, Miguel Duarte, and Sofia Aparício.
"The Israeli army intercepted the boats in international waters, an illegal attack, in flagrant violation of international law and the law of the sea, which constitutes an aggression against Portugal and many other states. It was a kidnapping in international waters and an arbitrary and illegal detention, whose immediate release is essential".
Protests will also be taking place throughout the country.
This is very short notice, the Instagram link does not work and there is no way to contact the group. At last a chance to meet decent people not the old white american and British zionist apologists who dominate the algarve expats.

Typical leftist disinformation. There is no genocide against Gazans. There has been however collateral casualties, which happens in any conflict. But the two are not the same. For example, over 2 million German civilians were killed during WW II by the Allies. They were not victims of genocide but victims of war. And victims of a necessary war. The war by Israel against terrorism is one such necessary war for the survival of a people that have inhabited the Middle East for millennia. The location name of Palestine was a Roman invention and the Syrians and Arabians that made their way to the area never referred to themselves as Palestinians until very recently. I only wish that Portuguese would look into the historical issue without blindly choosing sides in an issue they know little about, following the crazy chic EU narratives put out there by politicians, illiterate teen age activists, and fashionable loons like music stars.
