The project aims to "provide free transportation to rural parishes in the municipality, where access to the public transportation network is difficult, allowing people to travel to the parish or municipal headquarters," the Lisbon district municipality revealed in a press release.

The transportation will initially serve residents of the parishes of Maxial/Monte Redondo and Campelos/Outeiro da Cabeça, and will later be extended to other parishes, especially Carvoeira/São Domingos de Carmões and Dois Portos/Runa.

The interior parishes will be targeted first "because they have areas with limited access to transportation," explained Mayor Laura Rodrigues at the public meeting of the municipal executive.

Transportation will be provided by a 16-seat bus and will offer three schedules in the morning and three in the afternoon.

"Demand for the project may lead to changes in the initial schedules to accommodate needs," said Secretary of Mobility Nelson Aniceto at the same time.

To use the transportation, citizens must carry the M Oeste Pass and request the service by phone by noon the day before.

Transportation is complementary to regular public passenger transportation.

The project is being developed by the Intermunicipal Community of the West (OesteCIM) in conjunction with the municipality of Torres Vedras and the company Barraqueiro Oeste.
