It was necessary to “have the mental and physical strength, art and ingenuity to go after the result and then believe until the end. And, in fact, we have talent, the ability to suffer and overcome as a people, and we also demonstrate this ability in football”, he praised.

The Portuguese national team won the Football Nations League for the second time, beating Spain 5-3 in the final on penalties, after a 2-2 draw at the end of regular time and extra time.

In the penalty shootout, Gonçalo Ramos, Vitinha, Bruno Fernandes, Nuno Mendes and Rúben Neves converted the shots they had, while Morata on the Spanish side allowed Diogo Costa to save.

During the 90 minutes, Spain reached half-time already winning 2-1, taking the lead in the 21st minute with Zubimendi, and returning to the lead with a goal from Oyarzabal in the 45th minute, responding to Nuno Mendes' equalizer in the 26th minute.

Cristiano Ronaldo, in the 61st minute, equalized the match again, with a goal that determined the draw in regular time and the decision of this fourth edition of the Nations League in extra time and penalties, ending in favour of Portugal, who repeated the feat in 2019, when they won the first edition of the competition.
