He developed a cancerous infection in his right foot that caused excruciating pain, and he was scheduled for amputation.
The night before the operation, he prayed before a fresco of the Crucified Christ and experienced a miraculous healing of his foot. This event led to him becoming a source of healing for many others afflicted with cancer and severe diseases.
