Compared to the period between January and August, electricity consumption increased by 2.5% compared to the same period last year.
According to the company, the weather conditions in August led to lower solar and wind energy production.
"In August, the weather conditions led to below-average values for both photovoltaic and wind power generation, with respective indices at 0.90 and 0.94, below the historical average of 1," a statement read.
From January to August, gas consumption registered a year-over-year growth of approximately 12%, with a 135% increase in the electricity generation segment and a 9% decline in the conventional segment.
Regarding hydroelectric power, renewable energy supplied 54% of consumption, non-renewable energy supplied 17%, and the remaining 29% was imported.
"In hydroelectric power generation, although inflows were above average, these values are insignificant given that it is the summer period," REN stated in a statement.
According to the company, from January to August, the hydroelectric capability index was 1.40, the wind capability index was 0.99, and the solar capability index was 0.89.
In the same period, renewable energy supplied 71% of consumption, divided between hydroelectric power (30%), wind power (24%), photovoltaic power (12%), and biomass (5%).
Natural gas production supplied 14% of consumption, while the remaining 15% corresponded to the import balance.
