They come from neglect, abandonment, or hardship — and here, they find safety, care, and the chance to thrive.

That work rests on a very small team:

  • Sofia keeps the wheels turning behind the scenes — adoptions, vet coordination, admin, fundraising, and communication.
  • Kent helps with rescues, building, transport, and emergencies — and feeds the farm animals twice a day. On Jenny’s days off, he runs the entire sanctuary alone.
  • Jenny is on site five days a week, caring for the animals, cleaning, medicating, socialising, and managing daily needs.

They do it with heart and grit — but more hands would mean more for the animals. More walks. More enrichment. More one-on-one time. More space to notice the small changes that mean a rescue is finally healing.

This summer, we’re raising funds to hire a full-time animal carer to join the team and make that difference. The role is open now — please share it or apply here: wigglestail-animal-sanctuary.pt/join-our-team

With more people, we can do more than meet basic needs. We can give every animal here the life they deserve — filled with stability, attention, and moments of joy.

We’re building a stronger, more sustainable team — so we can keep saying “yes” to the animals who need us, and keep giving them more than just safety: a life worth living.
