The IPMA has placed the districts of Viana do Castelo, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Braga, Leiria, Lisbon, Setúbal, Beja, and Faro under orange alert between 12:00 today and 00:00 on Tuesday due to rough seas, with northwest waves of 5 to 6 metres expected, potentially reaching a maximum height of 11 metres, after which the alert will be downgraded to yellow.

The districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Viseu and Vila Real will also be under orange alert between 09:00 today and 18:00 on Tuesday due to snowfall above 800/1000 metres, with accumulation that could exceed 15 centimetres above 1000/1200 metres.

The districts of Leiria, Lisbon, and Setúbal are under a yellow warning until 3 pm today due to the forecast of strong winds with gusts up to 75 kilometres per hour, reaching up to 95 kilometres per hour in the mountains.

The IPMA (Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere) also issued an orange warning for the north coast of Madeira Island and Porto between 3 pm today and 3 am on Tuesday due to rough seas, with northwest waves expected to reach 5 to 6 metres, potentially reaching a maximum height of 10 metres, after which the warning will be downgraded to yellow until midnight on Wednesday.

The south coast of Madeira Island is also under a yellow warning due to sea conditions between 3 pm today and 3 am on Tuesday, with westerly waves of 4 to 5 metres expected.

The orange warning is issued by IPMA (Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere) whenever there is a "moderate to high risk weather situation," and the yellow warning when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather.
