The event, which takes place between December 1 and January 6, is inspired by the festive season and invites families, residents, and tourists to experience 37 days of fantasy and joy.
The opening of the program takes place with the traditional arrival of Santa Claus on the 1st, which will also mark the inauguration of the Christmas lights and kick off five weeks of joy and surprises, designed to entertain children and adults.
One of the great novelties of this edition of the “A Christmas Dream” event is the change in the spatial organization of the thematic hubs installed in the city.
Santa's House moves this year to Praça da República, where the Ice Rink will also be located. In this context, the traditional Christmas Market moves to the parking lot of the old fish market, forming, together with Santa's Workshop and the renovated Christmas Stage, a new festive hub with the Arade River as a backdrop.
This stage will be installed in an air-conditioned tent and will host daily performances of music, dance, circus arts, poetry, theater, magic, puppets, and clowns, featuring approximately five hundred artists, of whom about 80% are natives or residents of Portimão, including students from local schools and groups.
Santa's Workshop
Another new feature can be found at Santa's Workshop, located in the old fish market. This area will continue to be a space for learning and imagination, offering creative workshops, storytelling, cookie making, wrapping techniques, and other educational activities.
As in previous editions, Largo da Mó will once again host the life-size Nativity scene.
The Christmas Train will circulate between Alameda and the lower part of the city, connecting the various installed centers.
Parades
To liven up the streets, on Saturdays and holidays in December, the themed parades will return, bringing the magic of Christmas to the city's main thoroughfares and the heart of the parishes of Alvor and Mexilhoeira Grande.
Until January 6th, Epiphany, the municipality will offer 37 days of fantasy with entertainment distributed across various emblematic locations in the three parishes of the municipality.
With a diverse program designed for different audiences, the Municipality of Portimão aims to "provide a unique experience of fantasy and Christmas spirit in various emblematic locations throughout the parishes, paying particular attention to the youngest and creating conditions so that everyone can fully experience this true 'Christmas Dream'."
