The Oscar-winning actress, who recently separated from husband and musician Keith Urban, is said to be eyeing a luxury property within the prestigious Costaterra Golf and Ocean Club, near Comporta – the area affectionately known as the “Hamptons of Portugal.”
According to reports, Kidman submitted her residency application in July, personally attending to finalise the required documentation. The Moulin Rouge and Eyes Wide Shut star, who already owns multiple homes across the United States and Australia, appears ready to make Portugal her next base.
If the move goes ahead, she’ll be joining an elite group of celebrity homeowners in the region, including George Clooney and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan.
Kidman’s interest highlights Portugal’s growing reputation among high-net-worth individuals seeking a better lifestyle, stable investment opportunities and a welcoming environment for expatriates.

Many are drawn by the country’s renowned Golden Visa residency-by-investment programme, open to non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss citizens.
The programme requires a €500,000 investment in a regulated, government-approved investment fund and offers a five-year route to citizenship, along with visa-free access to 29 Schengen nations.
Applicants need only spend seven days per year in Portugal to maintain eligibility.
The initiative continues to attract strong global demand from investors in the US, UK, South Africa, the Middle East, Canada, Turkey and Australia.

With a robust economy and ambitious development plans, Portugal has become one of the world’s most sought-after destinations for securing a second passport.
Explains Paul Stannard, Founder and CEO of Portugal Pathways and the Portugal Investment Owners Club: “Whatever industry high-net-worth individuals come from, Portugal’s appeal stretches far and wide.
“We’ve seen an increase in interest as people discover all the benefits of moving here. From entrepreneurs to savvy investors, wealthy families to the biggest movie stars; they are attracted to the quality of life here, the 300-plus days of sunshine, the excellent healthcare and the range of luxury real estate.
“We expect to see demand only to increase as more and more people see the benefits of applying for a Golden Visa and the immense potential Portugal has to offer.”
