National airports handled 20.5 million passengers in the second quarter, 6.6% more than in the same period in 2024, compared to 2.4% in the first quarter of this year.
The INE reports that in the same quarter, 59.2 million passengers travelled by train, 7.5% more than in the same period in 2024, compared to 10.2% in the first quarter of this year, and 73.9 million by metro, 0.8% more than in the same period in 2024, compared to 4.1% in the first quarter of 2025.
Water transportation also increased, reaching 6.2 million passengers, 0.3% more than in the same quarter in 2024, compared to 1.4% in the first quarter.
Regarding the transport of goods, there were decreases by road (-6.9%, against -3.9% in the first 2025, and by sea (-6.8%, against -3.9% in the first 2025) and increases by rail (+12.6%, against +3.9% in the first 2025 and by air (+4.6%, against +0.4% in the first quarter of 2025
