The municipality of Mirandela clarified to Lusa that "the corresponding warning notices have already been posted at the site, a measure that will remain in place until further analysis confirms the restoration of water quality."

It also added that a counter-analysis has already been conducted and the results will be known "on Friday or next Monday."

According to the municipality, water analyses have been conducted since June by the city government and the Environmental Protection Agency (APA). Reports published on the National Water Resources Information System website show that the values are within the parameters and that, since 2016, the water quality at this river beach has been "excellent."

Albino Mendo River Beach is located in the center of Mirandela and has been awarded the Blue Flag for its water quality, cleanliness, and environmental management. This distinction is awarded based on application and compliance with several criteria. It lasts for one bathing season.
