“Several dinner ladies from Joe’s school in Silves live in the small village.” Jenny has parked her van in the shade. “The cat problem has got out of hand, so they are asking for APAA’s help to pay for the sterilisation, or SNiP as we call it, and they will help feed the cats.” Sounds like a good idea.

Joe has also offered to interface with the Silves Prison to continue Zélia Santos’ (aka cat-woman’s) work with them to build cat houses for the feral cat colonies. Make sure Joe has the right paperwork! High Five to Joe and his eagerness to help out APAA. “Perhaps this means a new generation of helping hands!” Jenny is hopeful as ever.

Great news! Cutie young ‘Gerald’ waiting for a home, he was supposed to be re-homed but something went wrong. Finally, Monica, his foster owner, said she would keep him. Hurrah! Now, 9 9-month-old female Siamese and tricolour kittens 3 months old, need new proper cat-loving homes. “We ask people to think about re-homing adopting, animals, because it is a job for life and it is so important that when a cat or a dog, has been abandoned, possibly fostered it needs that special home to look forward to. A forever home.”

Coming up will be a celebration for World Animal Day which is on the 4th October. An announcement will be made nearer to the time. Afpop’s BLiP will be at Portimão on the 11/12th October. So look out in the press for details.

The human charity Emporium’s facebook auction is running from 15th-23rd August. All welcome, as the charity covers so many deserving causes, for the poor and homeless. People who have found themselves unable to cover their clothing costs. It happens, and some of us can say ‘There by the grace of God go I’. For some it is frightening to find the family without food and essentials.
