In the semi-finals of the first leg of the European Championship, Portugal lost to the Spanish, 7-5, and then lost to the Belgians, 17-12, in the match for third and fourth places.
The Makarska tournament was won by France, who beat Spain in the final by 38 to 12.
In the women's tournament, Portugal finished in seventh place, after beating Germany in the match to determine the position, by 15 to 7.
After being eliminated by France in the quarter-finals on Saturday, the 'wolves' began the last day of the tournament today with another defeat, to Spain, by 31 to 5, in the semi-finals of the qualifiers for fifth to eighth place.
The Makarska tournament, in Croatia, was the first of two stages of the Rugby Europe Sevens Championship Series 2025, the main European level of the variant that will give access to the third division of the next World Circuit.
The second stage of the European Championship will be played in Hamburg, between 27 and 29 June.
