The show is presented by “the random players”, an international group established to create productions based around Portuguese history. Salazar’s rise to power is given satirical treatment with edgy references to what is actually happening today. The narrative, all written in rhyme, is woven together by a troubadour and a dozen actors performing on a deconstructed set.
To coin a hackneyed expression, “… and now for something completely different!”
In 1946, Salazar appeared on the cover of TIME MAGAZINE next to a rotten apple. “The Rise of Salazar” explains how the Dictator gained and maintained his popularity before he fell from grace.
“Salazar the Musical - The Rise of a Dictator” written and directed by Carolyn Kain to be held at São Brás Museum will take place on March 11, 12 & 13 at 4.30pm.
