The arrest took place on 8 January, and a 31-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were detained. The arrest was made during border control operations.

According to the Jornal de Notícias, the arrests occurred during operations conducted by the National Foreigners and Borders Unit, from the Airport Security and Border Control Division, after the two passengers attempted to board different flights.

The PSP intervention resulted from a risk analysis, followed by verification of the documentation presented and the passengers’ behaviour.

The Jornal de Notícias also reports that, after verifying the falsification of the documents, the passengers were detained and taken to PSP police facilities at the airport.
