The year 2025 was marked by the inauguration of 12 new routes during the summer, including the debut of United Airlines' connection between New York and Madeira, which began in June, and the continuation of this operation is already confirmed for 2026.

The strengthening of Ryanair's operation, with the return of its second aircraft based at the airport, as well as the continued growth of easyJet and TAP – which inaugurated the new Faro-Madeira route this year – decisively contributed to the sustained increase in traffic. Brussels Airlines also resumed its operation, with a weekly connection to Brussels.

Currently, Madeira Airport has 26 regular airlines, connecting the Region to 24 countries and 65 destinations, and it is estimated that it will end 2025 with more than 5 million passengers.

With this new level, Madeira Airport joins a new category of airports in Europe, reinforcing its relevance in the international context.

Madeira Airport is among the most advanced in the ANA Aeroportos network in terms of carbon management, having been among the top 10 in the world to obtain Level 5 of the Airport Carbon Accreditation from the Airport Council International – a global benchmark distinction for aviation decarbonization.

Investment

It should be noted that ANA continues to invest in the modernisation, operational efficiency, and quality of service at Madeira Airport, which has consistently contributed to high levels of passenger satisfaction.

In a statement, ANA says that it "is committed to innovation and technology through the use of biometrics – Biometrics by VINCI Airports – for more fluid solutions in the passenger experience and investment," with the terminal having undergone significant recent interventions such as the expansion of capacity in the check-in area, self bag drop, and security screening – baggage; renovation of boarding gates; intervention in the border control area for the implementation of the Exit Entry System; acquisition of new rescue and salvage vehicles, among the most up-to-date in Europe, and total replacement of the runway lighting towers; Expansion of the parking lot with an increased number of spaces.
