According to the rapid statistics on tourism activity, released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the tourist accommodation sector registered 3.1 million guests (+3.8%) and 7.7 million overnight stays (+2.4%) in October, generating €691.2 million in total revenue and €521.5 million in room revenue, corresponding to increases of 7.3% and 6.1% respectively compared to October of the previous year.

The INE highlighted that the growth in the number of overnight stays resulted from both an increase in overnight stays by residents, which rose 6.4% to two million, and overnight stays by non-residents, which increased 1.1% after two months of decline, totalling 5.8 million.

Main source markets

Among the ten main source markets, Canada and Spain stood out, with growth of 4.7% and 2.4%, respectively.

The largest decreases were observed in the French (-6.8%) and Dutch (-6%) markets.

In the month under analysis, the average revenue per available room (RevPAR) was €77.5 (+2.9%) and the average daily rate (ADR) reached €122.6 (+3.5%).
