The concert will be part of the "Run For Your Lives" tour, the same to their most recent Lisbon appearance, as the band "is loving" the tour.
"The fans have been incredible, the lineup is perfect for the 50th anniversary, the show is probably our best ever, and the demand for tickets has been extraordinary, with practically everything sold out and over a million fans in attendance. So, we thought we should do a few more shows in Europe before heading to other parts of the world," said bassist Steve Harris, quoted in a statement.
In the same press release, the British band's manager, Rod Smallwood, was pleased that "the vast majority of fans" respected the request "to severely limit cell phone use at shows, ideally keeping them in their pockets throughout the performance, especially in the standing areas in front of the stage."
"Unfortunately, there were exceptions, but overall, the understanding and cooperation of the fans made a colossal difference in the atmosphere of each show, greatly enhancing the enjoyment of both the band and the audience," he added.
Founded in 1975, British band Iron Maiden has been a regular presence in Portugal. Bassist Steve Harris even owned a bar in Faro for over 20 years, and the band even headlined the 2011 edition of the Motorcycle Rally in the Algarve capital.
Tickets—priced between 65 and 90 euros, according to SL Benfica's website—will be on pre-sale at FNAC stores for 24 hours on September 23, with general sales beginning on the 27th.
